An UP! Inspired Wedding

If you are looking for a playful yet wildly romantic wedding theme, this one is for you. I recently came across these photos while browsing one of my go-to wedding sites, The Wedding Chicks. This wedding was inspired by the movie UP! and boy, I got carried away just looking at these photos!

Photographed by Wildflowers Photography, this Up movie themed wedding all began with an Up Inspired Engagement photo session. Be sure to check out the two-part shoot here and here. And also read what Pixar sent this lovely couple as a wedding gift once the these stunning images got their attention!

Take a peek at just a few of the images from Jame’s & Lynette’s Up inspired wedding:

James & Lynette both on and off of the cake.

The groom James, surprised his lovely bride with a balloon-filled room. Each balloon lifted up a photo of the two of them over the years.

More of their playful spirit- love it!

Here is the wedding gift that Pixar sent — a book with a drawing and a special note wishing them a happy adventure together, cool right?!

Party Themes: Rainbows and Race Cars

Creating party themes for a combined childrens’ birthday party can be a challenge. If both children are the same gender it can be a bit easier to plan a party theme (like the Candy Party theme I threw for my two daughters). However, this party planning task can prove to be more difficult if you have are trying to plan a combined party for a boy and a girl.

When Glory Albin (from http://www.glorioustreats.blogspot.com) sent this party over to me — I knew I must share it. She so seeminglessly designed a birthday party for a boy and a girl (ages 1 and 3). The combo? A Rainbows Party and a Race Car Party.

The palette of bright cheery colors is perfect for both boys and girls of all ages!

I love how the stripes on the paper napkin rings so perfectly mirrors the stripes on the iced sugar cookies.

Who could resist these bright sweets? Glory is also sharing her sugar cookie recipe and her DIY icing decorating tips. Thanks Glory!

Rainbow cupcake toppers for her, race car toppers for him… too cute! I am also loving the favors. Rainbow ribbon hair bows for the girls (DIY instructions HERE) and Hot Wheels race cars for the boys.

Thanks for sharing these darling details Glory!

DIY 4th of July Decor

Embarrassingly enough, I have been so busy that I hadn’t even thought of details for our intimate Fourth of July barbecue (hence the last minute patriotic dessert ideas). So today, I decided to look around the house for some inspiration and boy did I find it — RIBBON! I have about 50 yards of American flag print ribbon lying around and decided to put it to good use today.

This is a simple 4th of July place setting. I just used to clear glass plates and layered strips of coordinating ribbon inbetween them. Paired with a navy blue linen napkin — simple!

I used strips of ribbon to make these DIY ribbon cupcake toppers. These took maybe 5 minutes and I just used ribbon I had on hand. Check out these DIY instructions for more detail on how-to make these.

I even incorporated the ribbon decor outside since that will be where we are cooking and hanging out. About 6 strips of red, white and blue ribbon make up this decoration. I hung it from a tree and it looks really nice blowing in the wind.

I hope I have inspired you to look around your home and revisit supplies you have on hand when thinking of decorating. Remember, your party can look thoughtful … even if you just do a few simple touches.
