Pecan Pie PANCAKES!

Pecan Pie Pancakes

I have this mild obsession with pecan pie. Specifically this pecan pie recipe (thanks PW!). But it seems I only make it during the holidays … which is not cool. So I came up with a reason to eat pecan pie all year round — and for breakfast.

Pecan Pie Pancakes Recipe
These pecan pie pancakes are DIVINE. And see that topping dripping off? It’s sort of amazing. The pancakes have this familiar nutty flavor reminiscent of the pie itself. Mmmm so good. I made them silver dollar size which made me feel not so bad about eating 6 of them… which makes no logical sense (I know).

(PS I have also been known to drink my pie. Yep. Check out these pumpkin pie mini martinis).

Monster Eye Lollipops

homemade lollipops I’ve never made hard candy before. To be honest, the idea of making any recipe that requires using a candy thermometer has scared me in the past. But, this Halloween I thought it was the perfect time to put my fears aside and give it a try. I’ve always wanted to make homemade lollipops so I decided to start there. After doing a bit of research, I discovered that the ingredients needed are super minimal. Like, two. TWO. That’s simple enough for me! The base of my lollipop recipe requires only two things; sugar and corn syrup. I added in food coloring and candy eyeballs (for the spook factor). I used Sugar In The Raw Organic White® which is unbleached and true to its natural color (like the original Sugar In The Raw®), but its finer crystals make it perfect for cooking and baking because it blends easily into any recipe. This was key for making our green lollipops!

Sip It :: Summertime Sangria

Sip Sip Hooray | Sangria Bar

I don’t know if you’re like me, but summertime somehow stresses me out. In my head it’s full of days lounging on the beach, picnics with the kids and drinks with umbrellas — but reality? It’s still the daily grind but with the added longing to be outside soaking up the sun. In an effort to take a moment to pause and just ENJOY the moment, I invited a few of my closest girls over for a much needed cocktail hour. Sangria and chatting were our only two agenda items. Pure. Summer. Bliss.

Peach and Plum color pallet

I didn’t fuss much over setting up an extravagant table since the whole point was to relax and unwind. I planned to serve only one cocktail (Yellow Tail Sangria) so I drew from the sangria for color inspiration. Peach and plum flowers accompanied by actual fresh peaches and plums added the perfect summer touch to my backyard patio table.

Luxe Lobster Boil

Lobster-Party-1

Who says you cannot have a lobster boil in a landlocked state? When event planner Morgan Wetherington (from Nashville, TN) reached out to share this Luxe Lobster Bash I was day dreaming of my own seafood soiree. My favorite elements are the lovely lobster water color paper items and the use of nautical rope. Take a look at the amazing photos:

From Morgan:

Barbeque is the typical southern fare, but we opted for lobster for this upscale dinner party. For this New England inspired lobster boil, we used a color palate of cherry red, navy, and shades of cream. The La Tavola red rope linen was the perfect choice to include the theme. We incorporated nautical rope, starfish, and of course lobster. The client’s home provided an ideal outdoor space for the venue. We wanted to create a guest experience, everyone loved cracking lobster and flowing conversation.
