Make It :: Fall Flower Crowns

how to make a flower crown This fall it seems wildflower sunflowers have sprung up everywhere near our home. One day while out on a walk, my youngest daughter had the idea to make sunflower crowns together, which sounded like a great idea to me! We picked a bunch and carried them home with us. She invited her friend to join in the DIY fun and they had fun making their individual crowns. Their favorite part was choosing the perfect flowers to use. The entire project took us about 20 minutes to make and the fun lasted all day as they wore their crowns around while playing together.

If you have old books lying around (maybe in the garage or in storage) chances are you have some books that are too worn or damaged to read or pass on to others. Even though these books might not serve their original purpose any longer, there are ways you can re-purpose them into new things that are totally awesome. I love the texture and color of old book pages and recently used them as inspiration and key element when planning a book-themed baby shower. Also, can we talk about their smell? Mmmmm love it (is that weird?).

4 ways to re-purpose old book pages

Book Page Crafts | Thoughtfully Simple

1. As a backdrop

Attach old/damaged books to a piece of plywood to make a cool 3D book wall or backdrop. Here, I simply used a staple gun to secure damaged paper back books to the wood.

2. Book Pages as “wallpaper”

You can cover any type of surface using old book pages and a little Mod Podge glue (find this at your local craft store). Above I covered a cardboard letter that I then used as party décor. You could cover boxes or walls too – the options are endless!
