Wizard of Oz Birthday Party

Does your little Dorthy love the Wizard of Oz? Why not think about planning a Wizard of Oz birthday party for her? Here are a few ideas I think she would love. With a little planning, she’ll definitely be calling you the Good Witch of the North!

I like this rainbow invitation. Of course, you can also include your actual address- however I still like the idea of including the text: “somewhere over the rainbow” and “just follow the yellow brick road.”

Speaking of the yellow brick road, you can paint a path leading to your door using sidewalk safe paint, or a make a yellow aisle runner using felt fabric from your local fabric shop. If you don’t have a path this would work on, you can plant yellow flowers in oblong flower boxes to line your walkway.

For other decor (or just for some fun) set out this themed game: The Wizard of Oz Yellow Brick Road Game. This can even be set out as entertainment if parents will be in attendance.

Perhaps my favorite idea, is to have each girl remove their shoes at the front door and slip on a pair of adorable ruby red slippers. These can double as party favors, as each girl can wear them home and continue her play once the party has ended.

These wicked witch cupcakes are perfect for a Wizard of Oz party! Serve them with these black and white striped napkins and ruby red paper goods for a complete look.

Need more dessert ideas? How about “somewhere over the rainbow jello?” Or these “wicked witch hat cookies?” For drinks, display a rainbow of Jones Sodas, and let each child choose their favorite.

Hope you have some inspiration for your party, have fun in Oz!

St. Paddy’s desserts- all you need is Guinness!

Saint Patrick’s Day is right around the corner, so let’s start with dessert first! If you are looking for an interesting St. Paddy’s dessert idea or simply a reason to drink more Guinness- look no further!

1. Rich and decadent Guinness Chocolate Cake. 2. Guinness Chocolate Cupcakes 3. Smooth Guinness Ice Cream 4. Delicious Stout Floats

I know. I know. You’re welcome!

Bain sult as. {Enjoy!}

Hay! Have a Seat

I am really loving the concept of creative wedding ceremony seating. Below show hay bales being used in place of your typical folding chairs seen at most wedding ceremonies. What a simple way to add a bit of whimsy and playfulness to your special day. A little country chic anyone?

Here, you can incporporate your wedding colors by using solid throws and fabric throughout the space.

Or, simply gather mismatch quilts which creates a very homey feel. You could even borrow family heirloom quilts (say if your granny has some) which would add a touch of meaning to the seating.

All white covereings are an option too- although this look is a little bland for my personal taste.

What are your thoughts? Could you see hay bales at your ceremony?

Superbowl Party Ideas

I love any excuse to gather some close friends and host a little shin-dig. Hence my current excitement for this year’s Superbowl. Since the results of playoffs are in, I am now able to brainstorm some Superbowl party ideas. Here is what I have so far:

Festive plates and cups to represent both teams. Set out equal amounts of Colts party supplies and Saints party supplies and let your guests choose who to root for. Use chalkboards throughout the party space. Use them to label your food table, identify drinks, point guests toward the restroom…get creative! This centerpiece from InStyle Parties will be a perfect addition, I plan to replicate this in some fashion for my party.

I have not yet finalized my Superbowl menu, but I know that these jalapeno-bacon thingies are making the cut! In fact, I can tell you several or PW’s recipes will be selected. A variety of beers will be supplies and perhaps even a beergarita or two for the ladies. Team colored Jones Soda will be a hit with the younger attendees as will these fun referee cupcakes. We will just have to make sure they play with those whistles outside :).

I love how elegant these invitee look. Create a boutique feel and guests will feel like they are not going to just a thrifty exchange but more like an invitation only affair. I love the purple and fuchsia color combo as well!

convert your home or party space into your very only clothing boutique.
